General Description / Special Programs
Students complete a core of required courses including introductory anthropology, introductory sociology, a professional orientation course, a statistics or linguistics course, anthropological theory, and a capstone experience, plus a set of anthropology elective courses.

To obtain a BA in Anthropology at WVU, students must complete a minimum of 36 hours of major requirements (18 hours of core courses plus 18 hours of anthropology electives), 12 hours of foreign language or equivalent competency, and 34-36 hours of general education requirements. Students are encouraged to build double majors or minors (such as Geology, Geography, History, International Studies, Linguistics, Native American Studies, or others) and field school experiences into their plan of study.

<p>Introduction to Anthropology (SOCA 105) is available for part-time students in the fall and spring terms, but is open to all students in the summer. 200-level and 300-level courses are occasionally offered online under the same conditions.</p>

The WVU Anthropology Club is dedicated to the anthropological study of humanity, focusing on its cultures, languages, evolution, past, and material remains. The club will organize students from all academic disciplines to promote awareness of anthropology, as well as serving as a resource for the WVU community.
