MA/ MS Requirements For students choosing the “Thesis” option, six (6) of the 30 hours of coursework are represented by the thesis. Phd Requirements Nine semester hours of departmental core courses, nine semester hours of additional work, and a minimum of six semester hours of dissertation hours. The student must also fulfill a foreign language requirement, pass a comprehensive examination in three areas of specialization, successfully defend a dissertation prospectus and write and successfully defend the dissertation. Research Facilities

Center for Archaeological and Tropical Studies (CATS), Center for American History, the Americo Paredes Center for Cultural Studies, the Benson Latin American Collection, the Texas Memorial Museum, and the Texas Archaeological Research Laboratory. The JJ Pickle Research Campus and the Department of Anthropology offer facilities for research in various subfields of anthropology.
