Department emphasizes a four-field approach in basic and applied research, with a doctoral-level focus on environmental anthropology.
The Center for Archaeological Research administers contracts and grants, publishes monographs and conducts public outreach. The Center employs part-time research staff members, interns, and volunteers, including graduate and undergraduate students. Faculty and student interns also conduct research and outreach in the four fields through a number of Institutions including UT Health Science Center, Institute of Texan Cultures, Texas Biomedical Research Institute, Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center, Esperanza Peace and Justice Center; Witte Museum, and the San Antonio Zoo. Graduate assistantships and other forms of support are available on a competitive basis.
