General Description / Special Programs
The department participates in joint degrees with College of Law (JD/PhD), College of Medicine (MD/PhD), School of Public Health (PhD/MPH), and one can get a specialization in Interdisciplinary Studies in Gerontology. The department has strong interests in bioarchaeology, dental anthropology, primate behavior and evolution, human population biology, gerontology, public health, medical anthropology, molecular anthropology, human adaptation, forensics, archaeological sciences, anthropological archaeology, and social-ecological systems. The culture regions emphasized are North America, Latin America, Europe, Africa, and Pacific Islands. Certificate programs in East Asian, East European and Latin American studies may be pursued through interdepartmental work.
