General Description / Special Programs

Specialization in East Asia, Latin America, North America, and Sub-Saharan Africa, with opportunities to participate in Skidmore's interdisciplinary programs in Asian Studies, Environmental Studies, Gender Studies, International Affairs, Latin American and Latinx Studies, and Media and Film Studies. Students have opportunities for archaeological and ethnographic field research and lab analyses, and anthropology majors are encouraged to study broad and regularly participate in field study programs in a variety of countries. Some student/faculty collaborative research grants are available.

Program Details
Research Facilities

Department maintains a collection of artifacts from Saratoga area sites. Facilities support faculty-student collaborative research: archaeology lab equipped for GIS, quantitative and physiochemical analyses; biological anthropology lab to support osteological analysis; and a cultural lab to analyze audio and visual material for ethnographic projects.
