General Description / Special Programs

Located at the heart of one of the most diverse cities in the country, the Department of Anthropology at California State University, Los Angeles provides integrated 5-fields training at the BA and MA levels, including courses and research opportunities in archaeology, biological anthropology, linguistic anthropology, sociocultural anthropology, and applied anthropology. The department has two archaeology labs, two biological anthropology labs, a linguistic lab and an ethnographic film lab. Our student club holds regular research conferences. Students at the MA level have the option to complete a thesis, project, or exams as their culminating experience.
