The 2023-2024 AnthroGuide is the last print version. Edits for graduate programs are due July 31, 2023.

General Description / Special Programs
The department offers a three-field undergraduate major through which students gain substantive anthropological knowledge of human diversity across space and time (including its causes and consequences); evolutionary processes; anthropological theory; methods for collecting, describing, analyzing, and interpreting anthropological evidence; and anthropological ethics, as well as the skills of critical thinking and the ability to communicate orally and in writing. The MA program has two tracks, one in General Anthropology and the other in Public Archaeology, both of which prepare students to work in anthropology-related fields, to teach in the community college system, or to pursue doctoral-level work. The Anthropological Research Institute coordinates opportunities for undergraduate and graduate student participation in CRM, applied anthropology, and other public anthropology projects.
