General Description / Special Programs
The program offers introductory courses in Physical Anthropology and Archaeology and Cultural Anthropology. A World Ethnology Class (culture area is determined by the instructor) and a seminar in Archaeological Methods are also part of the anthropology curriculum. Honors courses are available for more advanced students and higher level courses are offered on the web in World Ethnology. Smithsonian Institution, Library of Congress, and United States Holocaust Memorial Museum student internships are available on a competitive basis.

A partnership exists with the Montgomery County National Capital Parks and Planning Commission that provides opportunities to explore archaeological sites in Montgomery County.

Anthropology Students have presented their research work in honors classes at the Maryland Collegiate Honors Conference, the Northeast Regional Collegiate Honors Conference, and the Beacon Conference.
