Biography

Eloise Meneses is Professor of Cultural Anthropology in the Department of Social Transformation at Eastern University in the Philadelphia area. She has done research on the lives of Dalit women, resulting in the book, Love and Revolutions: Market Women and Social Change in India (2007 University Press of America). She teaches in the areas of India, global economic systems, poverty, womens experience, language and culture, race and ethnicity, and faith and science. Recently she has collaborated with a team of scholars to create a theologically informed approach to anthropology. As part of this project, she has published another book, Studying the Image (2019 Wipf and Stock), and the team has published an edited volume, On Knowing Humanity (2017 Routledge). She is also editor of the journal, On Knowing Humanity, and Director of the MA in Theological and Cultural Anthropology at Eastern University.
