General Description / Special Programs

Broad training in anthropological theory and ethnographic studies. Special area focus on West Africa, North Africa, Russia, Latin America, Mesoamerica and Native North America. Topical expertise in political, symbolic and religious anthropology; film and media; gender, family, and sexuality; indigenous and collaborative archaeology; nationalism, conflict and war; globalization; social theory of everyday life. Interdisciplinary topical concentration in Native American Studies, embracing Native American archaeology, history, literature, education, religion, astronomy and art.

Research Facilities <p>Longyear Museum of Anthropology and lab featuring large collections of local Oneida Iroquois, African Art and Mesoamerican archaeological materials; research collaboration with Women&#39;s Studies, Peace and Conflict Studies, Native American Studies, and other interdisciplinary programs.</p>
