General Description / Special Programs
The Department offers two tracks within the concentration: cultural anthropology and archaeology. Departmental honors program; interdisciplinary concentration in geoarchaeology. The Department also contributes courses to the interdisciplinary linguistics program.

BA/BS Requirements
Cultural Anthropology Track. Ten Courses: Intro level sociocultural; intro level archaeology; theory; senior project; plus five electives, one of which should be a linguistic anthropology course. Archaeology Track. Ten courses: Intro level sociocultural; intro level archaeology; analytic methods; theory; senior project; plus five electives, one of which should be a prehistory course. Geoarchaeology. Ten courses: Intro level archaeology; intro level geoscience; analytic methods; sedimentology and stratigraphy; senior project; plus two archaeology electives and two geoscience electives.
Other Degree Field Areas
Our two BA concentrations within the department are cultural anthropology and archaeology; geoarchaeology is interdisciplinary. In addition, our coverage of linguistic anthropology is substantial, and some cultural anthropology degrees have been in effect, if not in name, linguistic anthropology.

Program Details
Research Facilities
Archaeology facilities include a teaching laboratory (housing ethnographic, archaeological and skeletal collections) and two archaeology research laboratories. Analytical equipment includes a high performance computer for advanced statistical analysis and GIS applications, a microscope with digital projection system, a portable x-ray fluorescence spectrometer, and a Trimble GPS with accessories.
