MA/ MS Requirements The department has two MA tracks; both require 1 language. Thesis track: 48 units course work and research, research methods requirement, thesis. Applied track: 52 units course work and internship, research methods requirement, applied thesis. The MS is identical to the MA but does not require a foreign language. MS students are encouraged to take methods courses in science, math, and technical skills.
